Ask Kelle
Many thanks to all the fans who've e-mailed
in with their messages and questions for Kéllé.
We met up with her on 28th November 2006 to get the
answers to some of the questions you've been
dying to know!
If your question hasn't been answered this
time - don't worry - we'll be meeting up with
Kéllé again soon to put more of your questions
to her. If you've got a question you'd like
answered, send us an e-mail.
What have you
been doing since you left Love Island?
Taking part in Love Island was
definitely the right decision for me - I'm
really glad that I took part! Since leaving the
Island things have been really hectic. I spent
most of October in meetings with managers and
signed two weeks ago with Dave Samuel of ASM
Management, who's dealing with my general day to
day work. It's the first time since Eternal that
I've had a manager so it's quite strange having
everything organised for me again! I also signed
with AIM Management, who are taking care of the
acting and theatrical side of things - and so
I've got lots of castings lined up over the next
few months for some TV and Stage projects.
Most of November has been spent in rehearsals
for Cinderella at the Broadway Theatre, which
opens on Monday (4th December) and runs to
January 7th.
I also took part in a Christmas special for ITV,
where I'll be talking about 2006's Greatest
Moments, which is broadcast on Christmas Day -
so I'll be turning over at my house when I come
on!
Once Cinderella finishes I'm taking a week off
for a holiday - which I'm really looking forward
to!
I've also done interviews for December's Pride
magazine and January's Cosmo.
I recently went to a screening of my new film
The Virus at The Tate for some US critics -
which was a really nerve wracking experience!
Luckily they really liked the film, which was
great! The film's doing the festival ciruit at
the moment so there's no release date set yet.
What's the film
about?
It's a futuristic, sci-fi kind of film
depicting governmental correctional behaviour. I
play a dental nurse who administers the the
correctional behaviour chips. It's a great film!
You've done a lot of
work raising awareness of Lupus - how's your own
health now? Are you still in remission and how
did you fight the illness?
I'm completely well and healed now -
thank you! I've been med-free for six years.
There's no medical cure for Lupus but I was
prescribed steroids for pain control and
Hydroxychloroquine, which is an anti-malarial
drug to treat some of the symptoms. Obviously
this was prescribed specifically for me though
and does vary from person to person.
I put a lot of emphasis on healthy eating - and
I alway attribute my recovery to my faith.
Kelle will be putting
together a healthy living guide for the site -
so keep an eye out for that!
While you were on the Island, many people
commented on your appearance - how do you keep
in shape?
My wench of an agent forced me to lose weight
before I went on the island! I mainly did it by
cutting carbs.
I also kick box once a week at the Cobra gym,
which I've been doing for eight years.
There's been lots of
interest in your hair too - do you have any hair
care secrets?
I've got a great hairdresser called Devon
Maxwell White, who also does the Sugababes. You
can find Devon at Marie's Hair Studio, West
Kensington.
I love using Bed Head products and couldn't live
without my hair straighteners. People laughed at
me on the Island because I always silk wrap my
hair before bed - but it works!
We had a question about
the silver glittery eyeshadow you were wearing
on the Island too
Glad you noticed! The eyeshadow is by Mac
- I love their products.
Since the announcement
of the Arena Tour, there's been a lot of
questions about the possibility of an Eternal
reunion.
Never say never! Unfortunately the tour
was cancelled by the promoter Tony Denton and
there's nothing else planned at present.
What about your own
album, Breakfast In Bed - will we ever get a
chance to hear it?
I'm working on getting clearance from
Mercury to get some clips online - so keep an
eye one the website!
There was talk at one
point of releasing a duet with Louise - is that
still something that you'd be interested in
doing?
Louise is, and will always be a great
friend and if the right opportunity came up,
then definitely.
Did you feel that
because of your religion you had to watch what
you were saying on the Island?
I'm always responsible answering
questions about my faith - I believe I have a
responsibilty to God, myself and my family.
How do you feel about
being a role model?
Did you watch the MOBOs?! I'm on a journey like
everyone else - and I'm still learning.
Do you feel that your
religion conflicts with the industry you work
in?
There's plenty of conflict! They're complete
oposites to each other but I'm determined to be
a Christian in the industry and maintain my
faith.
One fan asks what it
means to be a born again Christian and what
effect your faith has on elements of your day to
day life such as drinking alcohol and listening
to certain types of music
Being a born again Christian means
getting a fresh start to give your life to God
and doing all you can to put Him first.
Whether you're a Christian or not, music is a
choice - I listen to a lot of gospel music, but
I also like Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, Alicia
Keys, Stevie Wonder and I think Beverley Knight
is fab.
Alcohol - like everything else - should be in
moderation!
Do you still keep in
touch with anyone from the Island?
I speak to Lee, Shane and Theo most - and I text
Kate a lot too. Sophie and I are also thinking
of working together again in the future.
What did you make of the
last Eternal album?
I never heard it! I loved What'cha Gonna Do
though.
You've mentioned that
Paula Radcliffe is an idol of yours - would you
ever consider running a marathon yourself?
I'm a massive fan of Paula Radcliffe!
It's amazing that despite her asthma she keeps
on running - she breaks boundries and does what
people say she shouldn't. I'd love to run a
marathon at some point, definitely.
One fan asked if you did
all the rapping on the Eternal albums?
Yes! I did! Thanks for asking - very observant!
Ten out of ten.
A fan from Denmark asked
if you'd ever be interested in performing at
Eurovision
My focus at the moment is acting -
Eurovision's never really been one of my aims!
